We are Robert & Ingrid from the Netherlands. We are the proud parents of Mike & Carmen and parents-in-law of Sanne & Lorenzo.
We have a great passion for the unknown adventure. Living in freedom, meeting beautiful people and exploring new and very diverse destinations, sparks our lives the way we choose. Where the vast majority of people choose certainties, it is precisely the unknown adventure that attracts us.
Who is Robert?
Hi, I'm Robert, born in Amsterdam and a huge animal lover. In order to make a trip around the world, I took fourteen months of unpaid leave from my IT job.
Na drie maanden reizen begon ik te merken hoeveel energie ik had en hoeveel ideeën er in me opkwamen. Ik realiseerde me dat passie en vrijheid onze geboorterechten zijn en je zo te voelen de bedoeling van het leven is. Gedurende het reizen heb ik geleerd, dat alles in het leven draait om keuzes. We zijn tenslotte maar een korte tijd hier op aarde!
One of the best aspects of this way of living is that I am the creator of my own life. Right now, I am thoroughly enjoying building websites, flying my drone, editing movies, brainstorming with our kids, learning new skills, meeting inspiring people and being independent.
Who is Ingrid?
Hi, I'm Ingrid. When I was still working as a Project Manager, I was quite a perfectionist. I really enjoyed everything, from concept to the implementiation of my ideas.
Pas tijdens een ziekteverlof kwam ik erachter dat ik vergeten was om voor mezelf te zorgen. Om te kunnen herstellen heb ik veel van mijn gewoontes af moeten leren. Door meditatie, coaching en het lezen van inspirerende boeken kon ik weer verbinding maken met mijn innerlijke zelf. Deze ervaring heeft alles in mijn leven veranderd.
Instead of working in an office five days a week, I enjoy living in different countries, meeting special people, reading books, learning new skills, meditating, doing yoga exercises and fun things together with our children.
Why Travel at 50?
When the idea of taking a trip around the world came to mind, we already knew that the trip would not just consist of sightseeing and meeting other people and cultures, but that it would mainly be an inner journey.
We wisten ook dat de reis ons leven zou veranderen, maar dat het zo geweldig zou zijn, dat hadden we vooraf niet kunnen bedenken! Voordat we vertrokken en ook tijdens onze reis hadden mensen veel vragen over onze manier van leven: ?Hoe ga je die levensstijl betalen? Ben je al met pensioen? Hoe regel je verzekeringen? Heb je een huisadres nodig, etc.??
We had the same questions when we started preparing for our new way of life.
TAF
The name Travel at 50 arose when we decided to be full-time travelers at age 50+. Our TAF logo is also an abbreviation of Tell a Friend and it are the first letters of our last names.
What makes Travel at 50 different from other travel blogs?
There are lots of travel blogs out there! Mostly created by and for young people traveling. While we enjoy reading them, we were especially curious about the experiences of full-time travelers of all ages.
Veel informatie was lastig te vinden en vaak niet compleet. Travel at 50 biedt, uit eigen ervaring, informatie en uitleg, op allerlei gebied. De website is nooit af…we blijven reizen, ervaringen opdoen en inspirerende mensen ontmoeten.
Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat iedereen die beschikt over de juiste informatie, ongeacht leeftijd, kan beginnen met het creëren van zijn/haar beste leven.
