Part 1
In this first blog of a seven-part series, we share our adventurous RV trip from Halifax (Eastern Canada) to the U.S. West Coast. We describe our route, the national parks we visited and the unique places to stay overnight through Boondockers Welcome and Harvest Hosts.
With an interactive map, practical address list and photos of most of the places to stay, we offer inspiration for travelers who want to travel through North America with an RV. We shipped our Dutch motorhome from Antwerp, Belgium, to Halifax in eastern Canada, but this information is also of interest to travelers renting a motorhome.
Why seven volumes? There are a number of reasons:
- There is a “cut” in our trip due to return to the Netherlands due to expired visa
- The arrival of our (in-law) children
- For inspiration for anyone who wants to travel through America & Canada with an RV. The route can not be covered in its entirety in a “normal” vacation.

The route is laid out in the interactive Google Maps map below. Due to limitations in this program, the same letters are visible several times when indicating places. These letters also do not correspond to our attached PDF address list. You can click on the map to see which place it is.

The pdf file is available for download and contains hyperlinks to the websites of all campsites. We cannot provide the addresses of Boondockers Welcome hosts (BW). These are individuals who make their space available through the Boondockers Welcome organization. Boondockers Welcome and Harvest Host is one organization.
Harvest Host are companies that provide overnight accommodations. In our pdf list, they are also marked BW.
