Nature in Yellowstone is so different from the other natural parks in America and Canada. The many geysers and pots of steam you see everywhere are some examples. We also visited this park in the peak season of 2010 and last summer. This time is the first time in spring.
Check out the wonderful photos and story of our visit last year here: part 1, part 2 and part 3.
In spring there are far fewer tourists. Unfortunately, you don't notice much of that...... First of all, not all roads are open, so you regularly encounter traffic and at stopping points it is quite full. Finally, only 2 campgrounds are open. Madison Campground ($33 excl. tax) sells out quickly and Fishing Bridge RV park is very pricey ($99 excl. tax per night).
Blue and green roads are open - Yellowstone
We were able to book a spot at Madison last minute! We really like the north entrance from Gardiner to enter the park. It has been completely redone since the 2022 flood.

Spring is a wonderful season
The snow is beginning to melt and the sun is shining brightly in the blue sky. At night it is around freezing, but with our warm quilts it is lovely! The animals and their little ones go about their business, food is once again plentiful. Along with autumn, spring is our favorite season.
As much as we like all the geysers, we decide to skip them this time. We are also going to Yellowstone with Mike & Sanne in early September, and we think it would be fun to visit everything together with them.
We choose to drive towards Lamar Valley a few times and enjoy the view and animals at a nice spot.

What a lot of animals we see!
Upon entering, we immediately see a bison. When you see wildlife, you actually want to stop right away. If you see a bison, you can drive on quietly, because there are hundreds of them in Yellowstone. You run into them toward Lamar Valley in places where you can stop very well.
Then we spot black bears, grizzly bears, wolves, mountain goats, deer and a fox. The bisons, goats and a wolf walk right past our camper. This is so beautiful because it is their land and we are guests. We sit quietly in the camper and follow which way they go. They take their time, which is cool because then so do we!
Check out some of the hundreds of photos we took and judge for yourself. As far as we are concerned, this remains a topper!!!!
Next stop
Quietly we continued on our way toward Vancouver. We booked a Harvest host spot for the next night at a brewery in Three Forks.
